Manufacturing Shift Manager

Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are looking for an experienced Shift Manager for a leading Manufacturing Client in the Pontyclun area.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Shift Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure the smooth running of our establishment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to motivate a team. As a Shift Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and ensure production targets are met.
  • Allocate/re-allocate labour according to the Operations notice board.
  • Accomplish the production plan in line with operational standards.
  • Attend shift hand-overs.
  • Periodically check that lines are running at designated speeds.
  • Anticipate problems and put actions in place to prevent them.
  • Re-allocate labour and machinery as deemed necessary.
  • Supervise and fire alarm evacuations and subsequent roll call.
  • Attend daily production meetings.
  • Carry out a weekly review of the production plan.
  • Manage employee holidays.
  • Ensure stock movements are completed as necessary.
  • Challenge employees directly where appropriate regarding performance, attendance and other relevant HR issues.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to the clients procedures, in particular regarding Health and Safety, Quality and Production.
  • Prepare for the arrival of the following shift.

Qualifications and Experience – Essential

  • G.C.S.E English and Mathematics grades A – D (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience working in a FMCG cosmetics or pharmaceutical environment.
  • GMP awareness.
  • Excellent understanding of safety and environmental issues.
  • Excellent understanding of high quality requirements.
  • Previous experience of managing a team.

Qualifications and Experience – Desirable

  • NVQ Performing Manufacturing Operations.
  • Health and Safety qualification.
  • Team player.
  • Flexible.

Essential Skill Requirements

  • Good communication skills and attitude.
  • Competent and self-motivated.
  • Assertive.

Other Skills/Abilities – Desirable

  • Data handling/PC skills.
  • Able to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines

The hours of work are Monday to Friday/rotational morning and afternoon shifts.
