Payroll and HR Administrator

Our client is seeking to appoint a temporary HR and Payroll Administrator, with the potential to progress into a permanent position. This role is available for an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing

  • Ensuring timely input of starters, leavers, and changes
  • Upload monthly payroll data into ADP
  • Process worked hours from the time & attendance system and maintain payroll amendment sheets
  • Complete agency hours, raise PO numbers, and liaise with Finance for payment
  • Manage the payroll inbox, responding to queries and updating amendment sheets
  • Input and check absence data
  • Run monthly emergency holiday reports and chase approvals from managers

HR Administrative Support

  • Prepare and issue HR letters (e.g. absence, flexible working, maternity/paternity/adoption)
  • Maintain accurate filing systems (scanning, training documentation, RTW forms, trackers, etc.)
  • Process HR-related invoices and generate PO numbers
  • Administer long-service recognition process
  • Liaise with Occupational Health for medicals and other requirements
  • Respond to HR and payroll queries, escalating where necessary

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support the recruitment and selection process (acknowledging applications, preparing packs, notifying applicants)
  • Assist with onboarding (updating records, liaising with managers, organising inductions)

Ad Hoc

  • Participate in HR projects, training, and continuous improvement initiatives

Education

  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths)
  • Level 3 qualification in Business Administration or equivalent desirable

Experience

  • Previous payroll administration experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing both hourly and salaried payroll
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including formulas)
  • Handling large volumes of data
  • Experience with HR Information Systems (e.g. Softworks, ADP) desirable

Salary:

  • Around £25,000 per annum

Hours:

  • Part Time or Full Time dependant on the candidates preference
