Study Skills Coach

Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are currently seeking to appoint a temporary Study Skills Coach for our client in Neath. This role offers an immediate start.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the Student Support Strategy and uphold professional study support standards.
  • Collaborate with staff to improve attendance and attainment, identifying students who would benefit from study skills support.
  • Collect and analyse transition data to identify vulnerable students and groups requiring specialist support.
  • Provide targeted study skills support to ensure smooth transitions into and out of education
  • Recommend and implement interventions, including referrals to external specialist support, for students at risk of leaving College.
  • Work with the Wellbeing and Safeguarding team to provide a seamless, student-centered support service.
  • Maintain accurate student records on the Student Intervention Log and electronic records.
  • Develop and deliver six-week study skills action plans, including one-to-one and group workshops covering literacy, numeracy, ICT, learning techniques, and presentation skills.
  • Design workshops for students with specific support needs such as ALN or anxiety.
  • Engage students through multiple platforms, including face-to-face and remote delivery.
  • Deliver study skills coaching to students under 16, as required.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, attend specialist reviews, and provide advocacy for students.
  • Contribute to academic meetings and track student attendance, engagement, and progression.
  • Support events and activities, including Fresher’s Fairs, Taster Days, and UCAS events.
  • Undertake administrative and clerical duties as required.
  • Promote diversity, equality, and inclusion
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and enhancement processes.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
  • Level 2 qualification in English (GCSE or equivalent).
  • Level 2 qualification in Maths (GCSE or equivalent).
  • IT literacy equivalent to Level 3.
  • Experience in developing, planning, and delivering workshops.
  • Experience in a student-facing role.
  • First Aid certificate (training provided).
  • Fire Marshal qualification (training provided).

Hours: 30 hours per week (6 hours per day, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:00pm)

Salary: £15.00 per hour
