Part Time Catering Assistant

Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are seeking to appoint a Catering Technician (Part-Time) for our client in the Newtown area.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain an appropriate practical working environment for teaching and learning by providing support within training kitchens, bakeries, restaurants, and commercial outlets
  • Support commercial activities and projects through preparation, production, transportation, and technical assistance
  • Prepare and process material requisitions
  • Produce, maintain, and monitor accurate inventories of equipment, plant, and consumables, implementing effective stock control systems
  • Prepare materials and equipment for kitchens, bakeries, and restaurant environments
  • Install, maintain, and repair catering equipment as required
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external agencies to ensure efficient use of equipment and timely ordering of materials
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised working environment, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation
  • Supervise the safe and effective use of technical facilities by promoting good practice in health, safety, hygiene, attendance, punctuality, and professional standards
  • Provide support to staff
  • Attend and contribute to meetings including
  • Carry out health, safety, hygiene, and security duties, including record keeping, monitoring, reporting unsafe situations, and completing risk assessments
  • Organise the issue and return of equipment to users
  • Liaise with internal and external providers to ensure the smooth running of services
  • Work flexibly to meet service needs, including evenings and occasional weekends
  • Complete administrative procedures and maintain accurate records

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant experience within a catering, hospitality, orsupport environment
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Hygiene requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline (NVQ or equivalent)

Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: 17.5 hours + per week (including some evenings and occasional weekends)

Working Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (main days required, but some flexibility is possible)
Start Date: As soon as possible
