The Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship is designed to develop aspiring middle managers, who still retain responsibility for operational processes but are more removed from day to day line management duties.
The apprenticeship allows you to complete a NVQ Diploma in Management Level 4, a Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management and also Essential Skills qualifications in Communication, Application of Number, and Digital Literacy. (There are certain academic qualifications can exempt you from completing the Communication and Application of Number.)
NVQ Diploma in Management Level 4
You will be required to take four mandatory units in this qualification. The first unit looks at personal and professional development, helping the learner to identify their development needs and plan how to fulfil them. The second unit delves into the theory of leadership and also provides practical application of how to inspire and engage individuals. In the third unit learners develop and implement an operational plan. The final mandatory unit helps the learner to develop their working relationships with key stakeholders.

Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management
The core of this qualification builds up the key leadership and management knowledge needed by today’s middle managers.
You will be required to take four mandatory units, building additional skills in personal development, change management and relationship development in the workplace.
You can then work with your employer and assessor to find the best-fit optional units offered in the qualification. You can benefit from a wide selection of optional units to build management skills in a variety of areas such as managing risk, planning and allocating work or managing improvement.
To be eligible for this funded apprenticeship, you must be living and working in Wales, and have your employer on board throughout the apprenticeship.
