Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are currently seeking to appoint a Student and Business Services Assistant for our client in Neath.
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality student-facing and administrative support across Student and Business Services, supporting learners with student finance, admissions, retention, wellbeing, and related student support services. The role will contribute to a professional, confidential front-line service that supports students throughout their learner journey.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide advice, guidance, and signposting to students across a range of areas including:
*Course information
*Personal welfare and wellbeing
*Financial support and student finance matters impacting learning
- Contribute to a professional, confidential front-line reception service for students, staff, and visitors, offering appropriate support and guidance as required.
- Assist with the recruitment, application, and enrolment of learners onto suitable courses, including:
*Accurate data input into the Management Information System
*Processing enrolment documentation
*Ensuring student records and paperwork are maintained correctly
- Undertake administrative duties relating to student finance, including:
*Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
*Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG)
*Financial Contingency Fund
- Liaise effectively with staff and departments, referring students as appropriate to ensure timely and accurate support.
- Communicate and collaborate with departments to support student services and operational needs.
- Provide general administrative support in collaboration with other departments and respond to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain, update, and manage accurate computerised records in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in processes relating to learner transition, retention, admissions, enrolment, and induction.
- Support students throughout the admissions and enrolment cycle, including the coordination and handling of confidential transition data.
- Administer admissions and finance systems relating to applications.
- Respond proactively to changes in student finance, welfare, and support provision to ensure learners receive accurate, up-to-date information and guidance.
- Offer and actively promote a bilingual (Welsh/English) service where possible.
- Support events, including daytime and evening events, as required.
Person Specification:
- Level 2 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
- IT literacy to Level 2, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working in a customer-facing role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally and sensitively
- Flexible approach to working hours and locations
Desirable:
- Basic Welsh language skills (spoken and/or written)
- Experience working in an education or student support environment
Contract Type:
- Temporary – Immediate Start
Hours:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
Rate of Pay:
- £13.45 per hour
